Sponsor A Student

A primary goal of the ASSIST program is to place students from underrepresented cultures in our member schools. An important cornerstone of this work is our presence in Eastern and Central Europe, the Middle East and South Africa. Through the generosity of American independent schools, full scholarships are offered to remarkable students. Our goal is to secure the supplemental funding that enables families to afford the experience and that allows ASSIST to manage the scholarship competition.  Scholarship Brochure

In addition to the scholarship provided by the receiving school (up to US $50,000 in 2011/12), a sponsorship of $8,000 fully funds each deserving student. The gift covers the following:

  • Travel expenses from the home country to the orientation in the United States and to the school or host family, as well as return transportation in the spring.

  •  2011/12 Sponsored Scholars at ASSIST Orientation
  • Health and accident insurance covering the students during the entire period of their stay in the United States.

  • Spending money for the students, to include purchase of books, supplies and school services not covered by the scholarship; weekly spending money; and money to cover the cost of expenses over school holidays.

  • A four-day orientation program upon arrival in the United States. A pre-departure seminar in each country.

  • Promotion, recruitment and selection in the host country, and the costs associated with the travel of the ASSIST interview team.

  • Meticulous school placement – and ASSIST’s resources to monitor and support the student, and to support the family, host family and school throughout the placement year.

  • Written contact with your sponsoree during the year to report on his or her personal and educational experience and to share what has been contributed.
