New ASSIST Director of Alumni Relations Appointed
It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce you to Nicole Malmedé, Stoneleigh-Burnham School '81. She was selected after a vigorous review of candidates for the position of ASSIST Director of Alumni Relations, and we are delighted to have an alumna in the position. She will be carrying on the excellent work started by Eleanore Boyse - both in friend- and fundraising in Germany. Nicole took up her duties on May 1st and has already exhibited tremendous energy, insights, and enthusiasm. She will attend her first recruitment fair this weekend, has met with Rosemarie Wegner, interviewed with members of the Förderverein and Res Nostra, and has had lengthy Skype conference calls with Meg Moulton and me.
Meg and I will be traveling to Germany toward the end of the month for three days to meet with Nicole and to begin to introduce her to you. Please join me in welcoming Nicole back to the ASSIST Family!

A NOTE FROM NICOLE
One always meets twice in life.
That is what just happened to ASSIST and myself. Almost 30 years ago, I was an ASSIST Scholar (Stoneleigh-Burnham School '81), and now I am ASSIST's Director of Alumni Relations. What a wonderful opportunity for me to give back to ASSIST for the most amazing experience it gave me. It was life-changing. It gave me more in one year than money could ever buy!
My priority as your Director of Alumni Relations will be to continue to build a strong ASSIST alumni network in Germany - where ASSIST first started more than 40 years ago. My focus will also be on fundraising. The funds raised will ensure that the gift of ASSIST will pass along to the next generation of German Scholars.
As a single mother with three children (19, 17, 14), organizational and communication skills come easily for me. My studies at the Lausanne Hotel Business School also have helped to develop these skills. After some years in the international hotel business, I was employed as a marketing assistant by 3Com Europe. My charge with the company was to organize training sessions and visits of the Board when they came to Paris. I also provided translation services privately (English to German, German to English).
I am now back in Germany (Cologne) after 16 years abroad. I feel as if I have returned home with the continuing benefit of global experiences. My interest in art led me to start an Art Gallery specifically intended to promote young, talented painters and documentary photographers.
I am now off to a new set of challenges. am very much looking forward to working with and for ASSIST, to carrying on the work of Eleanore Boyse, and to meeting many of you! My e-mail, should you wish to reach me, is nicole.malmede@assist-inc.org.
